Cara Sur Criolla Chica 2018
JANUARY 2020 WINE OF THE MONTH
Feiring Line Wine Society: June 2019 Selection
From Alice: About seven years ago, a fierce advocate for authentic wines in Argentina and now winemaker, Gabriel Dvorskin, wrote me a note about the scion of the Zuccardi family, Sebastián. “He refused to follow the orders of the family to go to UC Davies and left to do harvests in Piedmont and study vineyards. Now he’s 33 and rather stubborn about vineyard and soils.” And so a few years later we have his project with friends, the inspiring Cara Sur wines. From high altitude, 1500 meters up, this has a spiciness from stem inclusion. It has an elegant weight, spark and aroma, lightness, intensity and that touch of smoke that I often identifies this grape. There’s a very special quality of the fruit and just enough savory and twig to make it special.
