Christian Tschida Felsen 1 2015
Feiring Line Wine Society: October 2018 Selection
From Alice: When I found out I could snag some cases of this beauty, I know I had to fire off the one bottle option. Because you need to know Christian's wines! And not just the lesser priced rosés or Brutals, but the more ageable ones like this Felsen.
Christian grows his grapes about an hour outside of Vienna and tends to farm with a bit of wildness. Grapes are destemmed, and crushed by foot. The juice ferments in large barrels with no racking. It spends 2 years aging in 500 to 1500-liter barrels and is bottled without fining or filtering and no sulfur. For me the elegance, finish and violet just sent me to the benchmark of Clos Rougeard of old... with an Austrian accent.
