Aaron Burr Homestead Choke Perry Pear Cider NV 500ml
We just can't get enough of the hard apple and pear ciders from Aaron Burr Cidery. (Literally, we can't, because there's just not much to go around.) Founded in 2011 by Andy Brennan and Polly Giragosian, the cidery is on a plot of land which Cornell's Agriculture school deemed horrible for apple trees. Thank goodness they ignored the advice of experts and started a cidery on the property anyway. Production size is tiny and batches include estate-grown and foraged apples and pears from varieties that look back to the original colonial times when cider saw its original glory days. Unfiltered, dry, naturally sparkling - these ciders are just plain awesome.
This one is the Choke Pear Perry - just 40 cases made, so less than 500 bottles total. It's delicious and perfect for winter weather. Dry, very slighly sparkling, unfiltered so it's a little cloudy with the flavors of a perfectly ripe pear with just a touch of funk.
