Eminence Road Sparkling Riesling Seneca Lake 2015
Show a little local love and grab a bottle of something from Eminence Road. Grapes are sourced in the Finger Lakes, made into wine over in the Catskills and delivered by Andrew or Jennifer whenever they are able to make a trip over this way. This is their sparkling riesling - made using the petnat method without filtering. So the wine spends lots of time in contact with the lees - the fancy wine-making terms for "dead yeast cells" which we will admit, sounds a little icky. But it's not icky at all... it gives the wine a bit of a yeasty/bready edge that pairs with the rieslings natural acidity and makes for a wine that tiptoes into beer/cider territory. Whenever we pour it at a tasting, it makes fast friends with people who general "don't like white wine." So if you're one of those people, give this wine a try.
